Same-Day Stock
The Three Stock Blacks
Black is our #1 request, so we keep three Cardinal blacks on the shelf at all times. All three are the same price; they differ only in sheen.
- Gloss black (Cardinal BK12) — the shiny, wet-look black. About 90% gloss.
- Semi-gloss black (Cardinal BK78) — 50% gloss. Reads as satin on a wheel: a soft sheen, no mirror reflections.
- Satin / matte black (Cardinal BK08) — 20% gloss. Flat, stealth look that hides brake dust best.
“Black out my rims” is a same-day job in any of the three: drop the car off at 9 AM, drive home by 5 PM on stock single-coat colors. Satin and matte take a clear coat, so they usually run to the next morning. Sample wheels in all three are on the wall at the shop so you can compare them side by side.
Everything else on the shelf
Beyond the blacks we keep roughly 225 Prismatic Powders colors in stock — greys, silvers, bronzes, golds, whites, reds, blues, greens, purples, illusions and clears. Most are partial boxes. A set of four wheels takes about 3 lb of powder (calipers take far less), so a shelf color is a same-day job when we have enough for yours; otherwise it arrives from Prismatic in 3–5 business days, the same as any of their 7,000+ colors. Tell us the color and we’ll check the shelf before you book.

Blacks
Gloss, semi-gloss, satin and matte black — our #1 request and the three finishes we keep on the shelf.

Greys, gunmetal & charcoal
Satin and metallic greys hide brake dust and suit almost any paint color.

Silvers & whites
Bright silver for a factory-fresh look; white on wheels or calipers for contrast.

Bronze, gold & brown
Bronze on white, grey or black cars is the second-most-requested look after black.

Blues, greens & teals
From deep metallic blue to chameleon green-blue that shifts in the sun.

Reds, oranges & yellows
Mostly calipers — red, yellow and orange are the classic brake colors.

Purples & illusions
Illusion and candy purples: the colors people stop you in a parking lot to ask about.

Want the chrome look? We don’t chrome-plate — here’s what we do instead
ColorWerks does not do chrome plating. What we can do is coat your rims in a chrome-look powder finish: high-shine metallics and “illusion” powders that get close to chrome (not a mirror) with the durability of powder. Have chrome wheels that are pitting or peeling? They can be stripped in our strip tank to bare metal and refinished in any color (warranty terms for formerly-chrome wheels are on our warranty page).
Choosing a Color
How to Pick a Powder Coat Color
Start With the Car
Black and bronze work on almost everything. Bronze pops on white, grey and black paint; gunmetal and satin grey suit dark cars; bright colors are usually a caliper call.
Pick a Sheen
Gloss is the shiniest, satin has a soft sheen, matte is flat. All three are the same price and equally durable. Sample wheels are on the wall.
Send a Photo or a Paint Code
Text or upload a photo of the look you want, or give us your paint code from the driver’s door jamb and we’ll match it.
See It in the Sun
We’ll walk swatches out to your car before you commit — free. Stock blacks are same-day; shelf colors when we have enough; everything else in 3–5 days.
Common Questions
Powder Coat Color FAQ
The three stock blacks (gloss, semi-gloss, satin/matte) are same-day on vehicle drop-off. Any other shelf color is same-day when we have enough powder for your job — a set of four wheels takes about 3 lb, calipers much less. Anything we have to order from Prismatic Powders takes 3–5 business days. Colors that need a clear or second coat usually run to the next morning.
Gloss is the shiniest and most reflective. Satin has a soft sheen — between gloss and matte. Matte is flat with no shine. All three are durable and the same price. Not sure which one? We have sample wheels at the shop.
Gloss, matte, and satin are all the same price. Some specialty finishes like transparent colors or multi-stage coatings may cost more than standard solid colors. Send us what you’re looking for and we’ll give you an exact number.
